UPVC Replacement Door Handles
Over time the handles on your doors will get worn out and will require replacement. It is crucial to keep the same dimensions as the handles that were previously used when replacing them.
The top screw position, the lever and the keyhole sizes are the three measurements you need to check. Use the size guide to assistance in this.

Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle or lever is a modern-day door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This style door handle is available in a wide range of designs and finishes. This handle is offered by a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of tough materials and are perfect for doors with multiple points that require a strong design. The handles are inline, and they use the same spindle and screws to fix them. They can be easily installed on a new or existing uPVC/Composite door.
The sprung lever design allows the handle to be set and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance over time. The lever that is sprung can be reduced to accommodate more locks. This is useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is situated further back from the door. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors that have a latch that can be activated with the thumb on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently to the lever type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handles can operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are typically employed on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a range of finishes & variations.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with an outstanding performance and durability for its intended use.
All UPVC lever pads for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on the uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres allow for a larger handle, which is often a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. upvc door handles are spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging from their horizontal position when they are not in use.
It is crucial to ensure that the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when choosing the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often referred to as the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres and is an essential aspect of matching up the appropriate handles.
Once you have the correct PZ size you will then be required to make sure that the lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you require for your doors. These are usually round or square with an internal lever and an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC Lever Pads we sell are sprung. This means that they will return to a horizontal state when not being used instead of hanging, and possibly sticking in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a home. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles come in both left and right handed versions that allow them to be placed on either side of the doors.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. They work by using a key that unlock a cylinder that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allow them to rotate a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder you choose is essential. It is based on the type of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, doors that are external must be secured with a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features that increase security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
A euro cylinder must be properly measured to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place, but in the event that this is not feasible, you can take it off and remove it to take measurements. It is essential to not have a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.
The majority of modern cylinders have been designed with anti-drill and bump resistance features included in their design. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in a different direction. This can help to deflect an attack and keep your door safe.
There are cylinders that have been made to withstand snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and more straightforward than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves little evidence of a break-in which can impede the insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to help return your multipoint lock handles to their original position after usage. These handles used to have no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This simple component is the best way to address this issue. It also prevents your door from getting stuck in the closed or open position, as they are difficult to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specifically made for use with multipoint locks that are sprung They will not work with unsprung multipoint handles and you must have a custom hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes within the door handle backplate of many brands of uPVC doors. They feature a square cut-out that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are sold as a set.
These spring cassettes are an excellent cost-effective solution to the issue of your door handles that are sagging. They are easy to fit and will prolong the life span of your uPVC doors.
